Saving water will protect the plants in your garden and the environment, and prevent your water bill from rising. Native perennials and drought-tolerant varieties of vegetables, such as garlic, beets, and potatoes, are some of the plants that will grow with little water.
Remember to water near the roots in the late afternoon or early morning, or better yet, install a drip system. Digging up and covering flower beds will reduce water losses.
And if the drought comes, remember not to cut the grass.
